Paul: 1 Era Ends — Another Begins 🌅

I’ve said it before: 2024 will be the year when investors flip to the new world — one in which globalization is no longer the operating system for the world’s economies. 

Globalization is the phenomenon of interdependence between the world's economies, cultures, and populations, created by the ubiquitous trade in goods and services, technology, investment flows, people, and information.

The globalization we knew was 50 years in the making . . . 

And it was inevitable that, at some point, it would be broken by disagreements, disputes, and discord.

In 2024, it’s clear that globalization is broken. 

The U.S. is in a burgeoning trade war with China . . . 

The government is incentivizing companies to manufacture products for the American market . . . 

Countries are rebelling against the dominance of the U.S. dollar . . . 

Bottom line, globalization is setting up for a slow and certain fall. 

A Factory 🏭 Boom

The end of globalization marks the end of certain opportunities — and the birth of new ones. 

For example, the trade war with China is creating a factory boom in the U.S. 

Spending on non-residential construction is smashing records and hitting multi-year highs as companies reshore their plants back to the U.S. 

Over the last two years, it’s up 230%. 

This factory spending is good for our focused strategy on innovation and growth. 

Reshored factories are driving spending into new industries like EVs, batteries, and robotics. 

Companies building new factories will build them on a digital platform, leading to more spending on technologies like 3D printing, lasers, and applied AI. 

As each country builds out new capacity to fulfill local demand, we expect an explosion of spending on these technologies.

The Crypto Breakout Year 🤩

The end of the U.S. dollar’s dominance in trade will be one of the most controversial elements to the end of globalization. 

However, this is a huge opportunity for crypto technology. 

Already, Bitcoin USD (BTC-USD) is emerging as a global store of value. 

And the Ethereum USD (ETH-USD), XRP USD (XRP-USD), and Avalanche USD (AVAX-USD) networks are building a new financial infrastructure for money flow that doesn’t require U.S. dollars. 

While all of this seems sudden, the truth is that these issues have been building for over a decade now. 

However, 2024 is set to be the breakout year for these opportunities . . .

In other words, the rest of 2024 — and 2025 — will likely be positive for our portfolios as many laggard stocks find buyers willing to bid them up ahead of events brewing right now.
