Substack 🥞 Questions
Question From David:
Hello Paul, could you please share your thoughts on NRGV that Dan just analyzed a week ago. It kept going down since end of Jan 2023. Any reason for this down trench?Thank you very much.
Paul’s Answer:
Energy Vault Holdings Inc. (NYSE: NRGV) reported results on March 7, 2023, and someone is dumping its stock.Short-term stock prices reflect the liquidity preferences of the folks with the shortest time frames. Often those time frames are measured in days or weeks.
So, both in front of and after earnings, prices of stocks swing by huge amounts, often with no connection to the long-term underlying value of the business it represents.
My best guess is that someone wants out of NRGV 0.00%↑ and is willing to take any price.
Question From Johnny Invest:
Paul, when you say things like you feel like a P/S ratio of 2,3 or whatever it is is cheap, does the level of interest rates change those dynamics?
Like when rates were 0, a lot of companies traded at 15-20X Sales but now that rates are 5% maybe more like 5-10X Sales???
Paul’s Answer:
Price-to-sales ratios in the 1990s were often 20X to 30X when interest rates were far higher. In fact, Cisco Systems, one of the biggest stocks of that era, traded at nearly 40X sales.I believe that interest rates have very little to do with it. In my experience, people will pay large multiples when the bull market is on and when people want in on rising assets.
At the next peak, I expect price-to-sales ratios to be even higher than what they were in the 1990s bull market, maybe 50X to 75X.
I believe that because innovation today is more scarce, more valuable, and more in demand than back then.
Portfolio 📂 Questions
Question From Addi:
Hi Paul,
In your recent discussion on AI stocks, you mentioned all stocks in the True Momentum portfolio EXCEPT UPST. What are your thoughts on UPST...
I know once the FED stops raising interest rates (let alone cutting them), UPST will sky rocket. The question is would UPST have the means to survive till that eventuality of FED stopping and/or cutting raising rates....?
Paul’s Answer:
The video I made was on companies that are directly in the business of providing AI tools to companies.Upstart Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: UPST) is one of many companies that utilize AI in their business.
And I expect, over time, UPST 0.00%↑ and similar companies to completely upend current ways of evaluating credit risk and how loans are distributed.
I’m very #BOP 🚀 on these kinds of companies over the time frames we’ve laid out — three to five years.
Question From Osiris:
Hello Paul and Dan,
Can you please address the following:How is Spell token related to DYDX? Is DYDX Is somehow affiliated with Spell token?
My understanding from other sources was that DYDX had recently left the Ethereum protocol to focus mostly on Cosmos blockchain and that they're token Is DYDX.
Please clarify. Thanks.
Paul’s Answer:
I’m not an expert on the dYdX USD (DYDX-USD) token. We’ve recently purchased SPELL Token USD (SPELL-USD) because it operates the Magic Internet Money algorithmic stablecoin.
I expect these stablecoins to become an integral part of the new crypto/defi financial system, which is why we own it.

Question From Carolyn:
I absolutely love the detailed information you provided about the stocks Paul - including the large notes. :D
Speaking of biotech stocks, what's your take on Oramed? I noticed they have $160m cash available - do you think they are well-positioned to acquire rights to a new drug that could potentially result in significant gains?
Paul’s Answer:
I don’t know Oramed, so I can’t say anything about it right now.
